Joel, a lifelong Detroit area resident, joined Pease Bell CPAs in 2021, bringing with him a wealth of experience since earning his degree in 1984. Throughout his career in public accounting, Joel has audited numerous private and publicly-held companies across diverse industries.
FOCUS
Joel is a key member of our HUD audit group, primarily serving entities that own nursing home facilities with HUD-insured mortgages under Section 232. He also extends his services to apartment complexes with HUD-insured mortgages and contributes to various projects in our healthcare group.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Joel’s commitment to professional growth extends to his active involvement with various professional organizations. He currently channels his passion as a volunteer fundraiser for Make-A-Wish Michigan, participating annually in the Wish A Mile—a three-day, 300+ mile bicycle tour through Michigan’s lower peninsula that raises funds to grant wishes for Michigan children facing life-threatening conditions. Joel is also a regular American Red Cross platelets donor and has served on the Jewish Historical Society of Michigan’s board of directors since 2022.
EDUCATION
Joel earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with distinction from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He holds the title of Michigan Certified Public Accountant.
PERSONAL LIFE
Joel and his wife have two adult children. An avid supporter of all Detroit sports teams, Joel spends most of the warmer months riding his bike.
